Wallace Evans

Wallace Evans, Henderson, NC, teaches cosmetology at Vance Granville Community College in Creedmoor, NC. He is owner and Master Stylist at Renaissance Styles by Wallace, in Henderson, NC. “I just do it (quilting) because I love it. I saw my mother quilting and it woke up my senses. It’s an addiction for me now; I enjoy the actual quilting. Piecing is something someone else can do. I’m in another zone when I am quilting.”

Wallace began quilting when Leo Kelly mentioned Peggy Stocks quilting class to him. He and his sister-in-law took the class together at Vance-Granville Community College. Now, he makes lots quilts for family and friends and also large quilted tote bags, which are favored by quilters and craft people because they are sturdy as well as pleasing to the eye.

He likes to incorporate African and other ethnic fabrics into his quilts and quilt projects and likes to put a little of the same fabric in all of his quilts, so that the people who get them, like his nephews and nieces, can trace the fabric from quilt to quilt.
