Earlean Henderson

I grew up in the small community of Ridgeway, North Carolina. My quilting connections come from my grandmother. She taught all of her four daughters to quilt so that they could keep their children warm. As a child I watched my grandmother. She mostly tacked her quilts. I would help her pull the strings and hold the quilts. I think of quilting as an art form – the shapes, the beauty, and the patience of putting them together. The pieces of fabric used in the quilts came from old cloths.

Seeing the quilts helps you to remember and tell stories about the different people whose clothes were used in the quilts.
