Preservation Warrenton’s “Come Home to Christmas” tour is scheduled for the first weekend of December, and includes eleven homes and buildings which will be decorated for the season. Drive and walk through history, beginning with the 1855 Jacob Holt house visitor center to check in and receive your printed tour entry booklet.
Homes on the tour include:
Green-Polk House – 1850 , William Ransom Johnson House – 1800, Marmaduke Johnson House – 1757 , William Eaton House – 1843, Dameron-Bunch House – 1924, Allen Building – 2nd floor apt – 1880s, Hendrick House – 1870s, Carter Williams House, The Ivy – 1903, Jacob Holt House – 1855, Renovated Town Hall – 1907, Emmanuel Episcopal Church – 1824.
In 2022, the Town of Warrenton received the Gertrude S. Carraway Award, given by Preservation North Carolina for its renovation of Town Hall. The award is given annually to organizations that have demonstrated a genuine commitment to historic preservation through extraordinary leadership, research, philanthropy, promotion, and/or significant participation in preservation.
